History
The Spinal Cord Society of New Zealand (SCSNZ) is a national society formed by those with a spinal cord injury, their families, friends and caregivers.
Members of SCSNZ are not content to see large numbers of New Zealanders with damaged spinal cords confined to wheelchairs and excluded from active life. Instead it is determined to use the enormous advances made in human cellular therapy in the last decade to develop treatments for this debilitating condition.
The Spinal Cord Society New Zealand Inc. (SCSNZ) was established in 1988 by Noela Vallis and became an incorporated society in 1991. It is a non-profit organisation for cure, research and treatment of spinal cord injury and related problems. SCSNZ was formed because of a great need for an organisation to work towards a cure of long-term (chronic) spinal cord injury.
