·          2/3rds are 15 - 45 year old males

·          Almost half are due to motor vehicle accidents

·          1 in 4 are home/workplace accidents

·          1 in 4 are due to sporting activities

·          1 in 4 are Maori

·          1 in 10 are children under 16
